Tony Cappello, PhD

Dr. Michael Anthony (Tony) Cappello Ph.D., REHS is an epidemiologist and public health practitioner with professional interest in applying epidemiological concepts to assess human health risks related to infectious diseases, chronic health conditions, and environmental and consumer product exposures. He has led various state and local public health risk assessments, conducted numerous outbreak investigations, and developed actions and strategies in response to, and in anticipation of novel public health concerns.Dr. Cappello is a Principal Scientist at Insight Exposure & Risk Sciences Group - a consultancy specializing in evaluating human health risks – and he currently resides in Evergreen, CO, USA.
Dr. Cappello’s experience includes serving as the Director of Disease Control and Public Health Response for the State of Colorado and as Colorado’s State Environmental Epidemiologist. Prior to this, he was the Public Health Director for the Northeast Colorado Health Department, and in 2014 he was appointed by the Governor of Colorado to the State Board of Health where he served as Board President from 2015 to 2017. Since 2012, he has been an Adjunct Professor teaching and writing graduate level courses in epidemiology, environmental health, and public health leadership and ethics. He holds PhD in Public Health Epidemiology, a Master of Public Health (MPH), a B.S. in Environmental Health, an Executive Certificate in Business Administration, and he is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS).

Corey Boles, PhD

Corey Boles, PhD is a Supervising Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk now Stantec. He completed his Ph.D. in Occupational and Environmental Health with an emphasis in Industrial Hygiene from The University of Iowa College of Public Health. His principal areas of expertise include industrial hygiene, bioaerosols and microbial exposure, occupational safety, and exposure and risk assessments. Dr. Boles is actively engaged in efforts related exposure to aerosols, microbial exposure, and subsequent control measures. He currently resides in Raleigh, NC, USA.
Dr. Boles has provided on-site industrial hygiene support, performed risk assessments for chemical, particulate, and microbial exposures, occupational safety support, and guidance on risk management programs and communications to for organizations across a wide range of industries. He has performed occupational microbial risk assessments in healthcare, pharmaceutical, wastewater, agriculture, laboratory, manufacturing, and distribution sectors. In addition, Dr. Boles has provided occupational health and safety support, including COVID-19 support, to TV, film, and media production companies working in the U.S., Canada, and the European Union.
Dr. Boles is currently a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and is currently a member of the Biosafety and Environmental Microbiology Committee. He is also a member of the AIHA COVID-19 Task Force assisting the development of Back to Work Safely (BTWS) guidance documents released by AIHA. Additionally, he serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium (IBEC).
