Sara Mackenzie, MD, MPH

Dr. Sara Mackenzie completed medical school and a family medicine residency in 1995.  She is board certified in Family Medicine and Adolescent Medicine.  She performed full time clinical practice until returning to the University of Washington for a National Service Research Award fellowship from 2003-2005.  Since that time, she has worked at the U.W. School of Public Health in teaching, curricular development and administrative roles.  She developed and is the Director for the U.W. School of Public Health Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Science, Public Health & Global Health Majors.

Dr. Mackenzie presents regularly at the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) Undergraduate Summits and serves on the ASPPH Riegelman Writing Advisory Committee.  She is a consultant to Job Corps, a U.S. Department of Labor vocational training program for low socioeconomic youth where she has worked to emphasize the link between health and employability for the past 12 years. And, she co-authors a leading college personal health textbook, Your Health Today: Choices in a Changing Society (now in its 7th edition).
