Wei Yang, PhD, MD

Dr. Yang is a professor of epidemiology and biostatistics, and the executive director of Nevada Center for Surveys, Evaluation and Statistics (CSES), which has a 50-year combined history at UNR as a leader of research design, and surveys. With the recent merger of three prior research centers: Nevada Center for Health Statistics and Informatics (NCHSI), Center for Research Design and Analysis (CRDA), and the Center for Program Evaluation (CPE), CSES provides academic researchers and organizations with more comprehensive expertise in research and survey design, program evaluation, and statistical analysis.
Before joining UNR in 2007, Dr. Yang had impressive careers for seven years as a physician and clinical epidemiologist in occupational medicine, and 10 years as the Nevada State chief biostatistician and director of the State Center for Health Data and Research at Nevada State Department of Health and Human Services.
His research interests focused on population-based risk behavior surveillances, maternal and child health epidemiology, environmental epidemiology and applied statistical methodology for clinical and translational researches.
